[BRAGELONGNE (Famille de)]. Genealogical discourse. Origine - Lot 1
[BRAGELONGNE (Famille de)]. Genealogical discourse. Origine et généalogie de la maison de Bragelongne. Paris, sn, 1689. In-12 half red morocco, smooth spine decorated, gilt title (early 19th c. binding). Some rubbing. Woodcut title vignette with the family motto "Non Cedam Malis" (repeated in the colophon). Good copy. At the end of the XVIIᵉ century, the de Bragelongne (or Bragelonne) family, of ancient French nobility, belonged to the small military and court aristocracy. It drew its prestige from services rendered to kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV, notably in the offices of officers and gentlemen. Although still honorably titled, the line went into decline, reflecting the gradual disappearance of many families of the old noblesse d'épée under the reign of the Sun King.
