First German edition. Illustrated with 72 period-colored hors-texte figures depicting various Ottoman costumes ranging from dignitaries to servants and ordinary people, musical instruments, crafts, a mosque, a fountain, a Turkish tomb, a fishing scene, a Turkish bath, etc. (Colas 546.)
A precious copy presented here in fine period morocco bindings signed by Doll. This Parisian bookbinder, active between 1796 and 1835, worked for Napoleon 1st and Queen Marie-Amélie.
