The author was a painter, engraver, landscape artist and literary author. In this book, he combines these three talents and invites the reader to discover the many facets of early 19th-century Britain. He presents the costumes of royalty, clergy, soldiers, servants, etc. These beautifully drawn, colorful plates bring the characters to life. Readers can identify with the luxury of the clergy or the suffering endured by the working class.
A fine, uncreased copy, with some minor wear or old restorations.
