Manuscript - Justinian. Leges de Re Rustica Quemadmodum ex l - Lot 79
Manuscript - Justinian. Leges de Re Rustica Quemadmodum ex libro Justiniani divina sorte Regis decerptae fuerunt à Constantino Harmenopulo Indice Thessalonicensi, libro suae Epitomes - sexto - Joanne Piro Interprete. Paris, , 1542 [early 18th century]. In-4 of [21] ff. handwritten in black ink on vellum, framed in black and gold double fillet (+ 3 ruled blank ff.). The title is framed by a beautiful historiated border painted with a polychrome bucolic decoration on a gold background (in the taste of 16th-century miniaturists). 36 pretty champy or rubricated initials. Havana half-chagrin (19th c. binding). A later added manuscript note (19th c.) of 2 and ½ pp. provides valuable information on this text extracted from the Catalogus [...] Codicum manuscriptorum Graecorum [...] Bibliothecae Caesareae Vindobonensis, published under Leopold I, in 2 volumes folio, in 1690 in Vienna and Nuremberg, by Daniel de Nessel. A very fine manuscript, carefully executed in the early 18th century in the style of 15th-century manuscripts. Expert : Madame Elvire POULAIN-MARQUIS
