VADÉ (Jean-Joseph) & L'ÉCLUSE (Louis de Thillay, dit). O - Lot 119
VADÉ (Jean-Joseph) & L'ÉCLUSE (Louis de Thillay, dit). OEuvres poissardes. Paris, Marchand, An X - 1802. Small in-12, basane, smooth spine decorated (period binding). Engraved frontispiece. Binding damaged. An observer of popular mores, Jean-Joseph Vadé (1720-1757) is the originator of the poissard genre, whose name evokes the fishmongers of Les Halles. His poems are followed by works by L'Écluse (1711-1792), an actor, then a dentist working for the King of Poland, among others, who ended up managing a theater on Boulevard du Temple. An invaluable work for the study of popular Parisian language in the 18th century. Expert : Madame Elvire POULAIN-MARQUIS
