North Africa - LENS (A.-R. de). Moroccan Harem practices. Wi - Lot 205
North Africa - LENS (A.-R. de). Moroccan Harem practices. Witchcraft - medicine - beauty. Paris, Geuthner, 1925. In-8 square, paperback, printed cover (worn). Preface by Doctors Speder and Lépinay. Rare and astonishing work by Aline Réveillaud de Lens (1881-1925), a French painter and writer who lived in Tunisia and Morocco from 1911. Close to Moroccan women, she was able to observe and depict harem life. Here, she compiles numerous traditional recipes relating to medicine and cosmetics, as well as various incantations linked to matrimonial life (bringing back an absent husband, increasing or decreasing his ardor, attracting misfortune to a new bride...). Expert: Madame Elvire POULAIN-MARQUIS
