First edition printed on wove paper. Illustrated with 50 hors-texte plates drawn by the author and engraved by Cooke, 11 of which are double or folding, including 1 aquatint plate with a view of the coast and 3 maps, one enhanced in color.
Important geological work, the first of its kind. A very fine copy, with some minor wear or old restorations, and a few minor interior flaws, including tiny freckles on a few pages.
