In-8 xvi-171-[2] pp. Original edition, with 10 folding engraved plates, of one of the most important musicological works of the 18th century. A compact, simplified version of Rameau's theories. d'Alembert was particularly inspired by the Mémoire presented by Rameau to the Académie des Sciences in 1749, and its publication under the title Démonstration du principe de l'harmonie in 1750.
