DECHALOTTE (J. F.). Traité sur les subsistances et projet d'un approvisionnement de réserve en grains pour toute la France, sans qu'il en coûte rien au trésor. Paris, Huzard, 1829. In-8, red morocco, spine with ornate faux-nerfs, double gilt fillet and wide cold-stamped border framing the boards with central gilt coat of arms on the upper board, gilt roulette on the edges and inside, gilt edges (period binding).
First edition. The author, a former grain merchant for fifteen years who became a senior clerk at the Ministry of War, sets out his ideas on the grain trade with the aim of preserving France from food shortages.
A precious contemporary morocco copy bearing the coat of arms of Louis-Philippe (1773-185), with his stamp crossed out on the title. (O.H.R. 2497.) Paper loss on the title page without affecting the text, a few scattered freckles.
