The author, who had spent five months exploring the Auvergne, set out to write a travelogue to the glory of a little-known region with remarkable tourist potential.
The book is divided into 3 parts. The first is a description of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, the second describes the volcanoes and springs, and the last lists possible itineraries for walking and discovery.
